The Yamamoto Shibasaki Law Offices were established on April 1, 2008 by partners Kohtaro Yamamoto and Koichi Shibasaki, who taught civil law practice together at the Supreme Court’s Legal Training and Research Institute.

Kohtaro Yamamoto has over twenty years of experience and has, for about thirteen years since June of 1994, been providing legal services mainly in the areas of corporate and business law, transnational law and intellectual property law, in his antecedent firm, Yamamoto Sogo Law offices.

Koichi Shibasaki has over twenty years of experience, centering on corporate and business law, insurance law, damages lawsuit (medical, school accidents, workers’ accidents), bankruptcy receivership and corporate rehabilitation.

With these two partners having years of actual experience in their respective areas of practice, we have confidence that this firm can provide legal services in wide areas of practice.Furthermore, in August 2008, we welcome into our firm as a visiting attorney, Professor Toshio Uehara of the Graduate Law School of Hitotsubashi University (Professor Emeritus, Hitotsubashi University). Taking this opportunity to have him join us, we believe that with his scholarly viewpoints and analysis, Professor Uehara will serve as an extraordinary lawyer in participating in the work of this firm. From April 2015, Jun Arima was made a partner in the firm. Since we expect him to be active as a core presence in the firm.

As of April 2015 the firm consists of six attorneys-at-law, a U.S. lawyer serving of counsel (admitted in NY and DC), an administrative attorney and four staff members.

With this line-up, the firm will endeavor to provide high-quality legal services not only in the core areas, taking charge of case management of litigation and insolvency matters, but in henceforth diversifying so as to promptly meet all the legal needs of our clients.
